The Centre for Social Innovation, Citizens Bank, and Vancity warmly invite you to join us for an evening reception with Tamara Vrooman, President & CEO of Vancity, Canada’s largest community credit union, and member of the Board of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values.

The gathering will bring together civic shakers and policy-makers, financiers and philanthropists for lively conversations about the worldwide movement toward sustainable banking and stories about the local power of innovative social finance partnerships.

Location: Centre for Social Innovation: 192 Spadina Ave. [between Queen and Dundas]

Time: 6-8 pm (doors open at 5:30; brief storytelling program at 6:30)  Refreshments will be served.

Under Tamara’s leadership Vancity has gained international recognition for its values-based banking model – as the first carbon-neutral financial institution in North America, the largest private sector living wage employer in Canada, one of the first financial institutions to introduce an alternative to predatory payday loans, and for its pioneering approach to community impact investing.  Interest in Vancity’s leading-edge social finance initiatives takes Tamara around the world: last year she was honoured to participate at a Vatican-hosted summit about creating a more sustainable inclusive global economy.  Before joining Vancity, Tamara served as BC’s Deputy Minister of Finance and Secretary to the Treasury Board.

Stories to be shared by Adil Dhalla, Executive Director of the Centre for Social Innovation, Heather Tremain, CEO for Options for Homes, Annette Aquin, Executive VP Finance and Operation Hamilton Community Foundation.
