We're baaaaack, this time with our friends at Toronto-based startup SnapTravel! We're excited to hang out in SnapTravel's new office and hear about how they're using natural language processing to change the travel industry.


Conversational Commerce is ecommerce through emerging conversational channels, such as chat-based messaging apps and voice-controlled devices. This meetup will explore the data engineering and science behind conversational commerce, and the technology, tools and learnings that have powered these new advances.

Leon Jiang is a Senior Engineer at SnapTravel, leading the Conversational Engineering team (machine learning, natural language processing & voice). A graduate of the University of Waterloo's Software Engineering program, Leon completed internships with Facebook, Google, Wish and Yelp before joining the SnapTravel team and helping to build, refine and productionize various ML and NLP models responsible for helping to drive over $100MM USD in global revenue.

Elaine Ye is a recent graduate of the University of Waterloo's Computational Mathematics program, and most recently completed an internship developing IoT and AI projects with IBM. Elaine is particularly interested in Data Science and Natural Language Processing, and recently completed a project where she performed in-depth sentiment classification on Chinese text messages.
