This week’s episode of #TrueNorth TV features the illustrious and inspiring Patty McCord, former Chief Talent Officer at Netflix, who joins our CEO Iain Klugman for a candid discussion on what should be the most important word in every entrepreneur and business leader’s repertoire: CULTURE.

Patty and her team at Netflix were responsible for developing the “Netflix Culture Deck”, arguably one of the most important documents to ever come out of Silicon Valley. Don’t believe us? Ask Sheryl Sandberg.

On this episode, Patty and Iain discuss why culture is above all when it comes to successful business – especially in tech.

More on Patty McCord: Patty McCord served as chief talent officer of Netflix for 14 years and helped create the famed Netflix Culture Deck, which revolutionized HR for the modern age. Since it was first posted on the web, the Culture Deck has been viewed more than 15 million times, and Sheryl Sandberg has said it “may be the most important document ever to come out of Silicon Valley.”

Patty participated in IPOs at Netflix and, before that, Pure Atria Software. She also held roles at Sun Microsystems, Borland, and Seagate Technologies. She now coaches and advises a small group of companies and entrepreneurs on culture and leadership, and speaks to groups and teams around the world. Patty is also no stranger to us here in Waterloo Region. She spoke at Communitech’s Tech Leadership Conference – the precursor to our True North Festival – in 2017, and at the Waterloo Innovation Summit the year before that. #TechForGood
