This video features ApplyBoard, a fast-growing Waterloo Region company that helps students with the process of gaining acceptance to international schools.
ApplyBoard, which simplifies a student’s search, application and visa process by combining each step under one software platform, was founded in 2015 by brothers Martin, Meti and Massi Basiri.
The company has helped more than 100,000 students with their educational journeys and has formed partnerships with upwards of 1,200 primary, secondary and post-secondary educational institutions throughout the world.
With more than 400 employees, the company is now the largest online platform for international student recruitment in the world, and recently successfully completed a CDN$100-million Series C fundraising round on a CDN$2-billion valuation, one that that lifted the firm into the rare status of unicorn – a private company worth $1 billion or more.
Hear their story, in the words of their co-founders. (Note: This footage was recorded prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.)
