The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) held its  Tech4SickKids launch event on Wednesday November 15, 2017 at the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto. Tech4SickKids is an initiative challenging Toronto’s technology and innovation community to raise $25 million to help transform child health.

MaRS is a community partner of the Tech4SickKids launch.

SickKids leads the fight for children’s health. From precision genetic medicine, to surgical robotics, to harnessing big data to save lives, the hospital is at the cutting edge. But it's limited by its old building.

For the best patient outcomes, SickKids need to accommodate contemporary best practices and technology, attract world-class medical leaders, and create spaces that comfort families.

As drivers of change, technology and innovation community redefines how we live: how we invest, how we connect with friends and family, how we think and act.

The goal is to raise $25 million for new, state-of-the-art spaces, people, and programs.

The funds raised through Tech4SickKids will help to make a transformational impact on patients and their families:

  • Support the first Chair in biomedical informatics and artificial intelligence in Canada;
  • Work to ensure SickKids is the first children’s hospital in Canada to harness the power of data intelligence to advance the delivery of health care by improving efficiency and reducing patient risk;
  • SickKids will construct an efficient, safe clinical campus, including a state-of-the-art Emergency Suite, capable of delivering the most cutting-edge, compassionate care.
