Knowing that it is becoming harder and harder to sustain a career as an artist or a designer, the Province of Ontario, City of Toronto and Artscape have partnered to provide a program to help creators fully realize their potential.

The Starter Company Plus Creative Arts program is focused on helping entrepreneurs start or grow their art and design businesses by providing training, mentorship and access to the new Artscape Daniels Launchpad facility and a grant of up to $2,000 each.

To qualify, artists and designers must meet the Starter Company Plus Creative Arts Program guidelines, complete Artscape's Creative Entrepreneurship Program, then apply for the grant through the City of Toronto. Successful applicants will each receive the $2,000 grant, plus a one-year membership to the Artscape Daniels Launchpad facility (a $1,800 value), which opens in 2018.

“The City of Toronto is proud to support artists and designers in Toronto through Artscape’s Creative Entrepreneurship Program and the Artscape Daniels Launchpad facility,” shared Chris Rickett, Manager, Entrepreneurship Services, City of Toronto. “Ensuring that the city's cultural entrepreneurs  have access to the tools and resources they need to be successful is important to ensuring our creative communities continue to thrive.”

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Province of Ontario and City of Toronto on the Starter Company Plus Creative Arts Program,” said Karim Rahemtulla, Managing Director, Artscape Daniels Launchpad. “By coming together on this initiative we are supporting the city’s artists and designers to grow creative entrepreneurship, strengthen our cultural fabric, boost our economy and share their incredible talent.”

The next session of Artscape’s Creative Entrepreneurship Program runs Monday to Friday, June 19 – 23, 2017 in downtown Toronto. Interested participants should apply by June 9, 2017.

After completion of Artscape’s Creative Entrepreneurship Program, artists and designers can apply to the Starter Company Plus Creative Arts Program
