WeWork announced that Ground, the Waterloo-based news app, has been selected as a finalist for the Nashville Creator Awards Regional Semi-Final event on September 13th at Marathon Music Works. Chosen from a pool of more than 1,700 applicants from across the Eastern United States, Puerto Rico, and Ontario, these finalists will pitch their idea, business model, or organization before a live audience and compete for over $700,000 in funding, with prizes ranging from $18,000 to $360,000.

In addition, for the first time, Ashton Kutcher will be a part of the Nashville Creator Awards, and will be joined by his Sound Investments partner, Guy Oseary. Superstar duo, Florida Georgia Line will also be featured judges that evening.

At the Nashville Creator Awards, finalists will be presenting before a live audience and competing for funding, which will be available in the following three categories:

  • Business Venture Award: for entrepreneurs and companies with fresh ideas ($130k – $360k)

  • Nonprofit Award: for charitable organizations big and small ($72k – $130k)

  • Performing Arts Award: for entertainers and groups with a unique point of view ($18k – $72k)

Since March 2017, WeWork has hosted more than 27,000 attendees and given away millions of dollars across 11 Creator Awards Regional Semi-Final events around the globe, plus one Global Finals event in New York City in January 2018.
